** U.S. cable channel The Weather Channel is to be put up for sale and could fetch more than $5 billion, The New York Times said in an online report, quoting people briefed on the auction.

** Ford Motor Co (F.N) said India’s Tata Motors Ltd (TAMO.BO) was the front-runner to buy its European brands Jaguar and Land Rover, which the U.S. carmaker is selling to counter mounting debt. [nL03141022]
