Dec 20 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers, acquisitions and disposals involving European, U.S. and Asian companies were reported by 2100 GMT on Thursday.

** Japanese staffing firm Recruit Co said it is in talks to buy industry leader Staff Service Holdings, outmanoeuvring U.S.-based Manpower Inc (MAN.N) in a deal reported to be worth about $1.5 billion.

** Dell Inc DELL.O said it will purchase CIT Group Inc’s (CIT.N) 30 percent stake in Dell Financial Services (DFS) for $306 million by the end of 2007. [nWNAS5051]

** General Motors Corp (GM.N) has reached a tentative agreement to sell its medium-duty truck business to Navistar International Corp NAVZ.PK, the two companies said. [nN20158407]

** Whitehall Funds, a poperty fund managed by Goldman Sachs (GS.N), agreed to buy real estate worth 1.7 billion euros ($2.44 billion) from German insurer Allianz, Allianz said. [nL206551]

** France’s Vivendi (VIV.PA) ignited talk of an acquisition spree by saying it might tap the market for up to 2.0 billion euros ($2.9 billion) as its mobile unit SFR launched a bid for fixed-line ally Neuf Cegetel NEUF.PA. [ID:nL208825]

** Continental AG (CONG.DE) will announce on Thursday it is selling the electric motor business it acquired when it bought Siemens’ (SIEGn.DE) automotive electronics unit VDO, the Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper reported. [nL2020198]

** The French government said it planned to take a golden share in Gaz de France GAZ.PA, the country’s main gas provider which is in the process of merging with French utility Suez LYOE.PA. [nPAC009041]

** Britain’s pay-TV firm BSkyB BSY.L looks set for a costly climb-down after a regulator said it should sell more than half of its 17.9 percent stake in ITV (ITV.L) because it is hampering competition. [nL20594768]

** UK-based buyout firm Cognetas said it agreed to buy Italian vending machine operator Gruppo Argenta alongside Italian rival Investitori Associati. [nL20706727]

** Denmark’s DLH Group (DLHb.CO) said France’s St Gobain (SGOB.PA), the world’s biggest building materials group, would buy its Danish building materials business, generating proceeds of around 600 million Danish crowns ($115.5 million). [nL20708467]

** German industrial group MAN (MANG.DE) has bought a 25.1 percent stake in truck leasing company EURO-Leasing GmbH, MAN said in a statement. [nWEB1069]
