Questar files for $700 mln shelf offering

March 7 (Reuters) - Natural gas company Questar Corp STR.N said it filed with U.S. securities regulators to periodically sell up to $700 million in debt securities.

The company said it intends to use the proceeds to repay debt, finance certain capital expenditures and for general corporate purposes, including working capital.

Under a shelf registration filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, a company may sell securities in one or more separate offerings with the size, price and terms to be determined at the time of sale. (Reporting by Avishek Mishra in Bangalore; Editing by Gopakumar Warrier)
