KKR names ex-StanChart exec as senior advisor

NEW YORK, Aug 3 (Reuters) - Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co [KKR.UL], the private equity firm, on Monday named Michael DeNoma, a former top executive at Standard Chartered Bank Plc (STAN.L)(2888.HK) as a senior advisor.

DeNoma was chief executive of Standard Chartered’s global consumer bank from 2000 to 2008, and was also a group executive director and head of strategy. He joined that banking unit in 1999, after having served as chief executive of Asia Foods Ltd prior to that company’s sale.

In addition, DeNoma is chairman of Chinatrust Commercial Bank, a unit of Chinatrust Financial Holding Co (2891.TW). His prior employers include Citicorp, Hutchison Whampoa Ltd 0013.HK and Pepsico Inc PEP.N.

DeNoma is an American with a master’s degree in business from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

Henry Kravis and George Roberts, who co-founded KKR, in a joint statement said the firm would benefit from DeNoma’s experience and expertise in Asian, Middle Eastern and European markets as it expands in those regions. (Reporting by Jonathan Stempel; Editing by Valerie Lee)
