** CME Group Inc CME.N, the world’s largest derivatives exchange, forged a definitive agreement to buy energy and precious metals market NYMEX NMX.N for about $9.4 billion. [nN17544169]
** Billionaire investor Wilbur Ross, who made his fortune buying businesses in distressed industries, said he would buy H&R Block Inc’s (HRB.N) mortgage servicing business for $1.1 billion. [nN17552319]
** JPMorgan Chase & Co (JPM.N) said it would buy stricken rival Bear Stearns BSC.N for just $2 a share in an all-stock deal that values the U.S. investment bank at the centre of the credit crisis at about $236 million. [nN16710089]

** Russia’s Development Bank will buy the entire share issue of electricity import-export firm Inter RAO for 20 billion roubles ($768 million), taking a stake of more than 25 percent.
** Aluminium Corp of China Ltd (2600.HK) (601600.SS), the world’s No.4 aluminium maker, said on Monday it will pay up to 4.18 billion yuan ($590.3 million) in bidding for stakes in six units of its state-owned parent. [nHKG301867]
** U.S. drugstore chain Walgreen Co WAG.N said it will buy two companies under an initiative to expand health services beyond its retail stores. Walgreen will acquire I-trax DMX.A for $278 million, including the assumption of $18.3 million of debt. It will also buy privately held Whole Health Management of Cleveland.
** Iomega Corp IOM.N said it was prepared to enter into talks with EMC Corp EMC.N after the suitor sweetened its offer to buy the computer storage provider by about 15 percent, or $27.4 million.[nBNG132651]
** Spanish brokerage Gaesco GAES.BC, which has put itself up for sale, said it has agreed to sell its 37.5 percent stake in fund manager Gesiuris SA for 4 million euros ($5.3 million). [nL1731854]

** Private equity firm Vector Capital said it has offered to buy Captaris Inc CAPA.O, which makes software to manage documents, for $4.75 per share, a 36 percent premium to the stock’s closing price on Friday.
