Synovus Financial lowers 2007 earnings view

Nov 13 (Reuters) - Synovus Financial Corp (SNV.N) lowered its 2007 earnings outlook as it expects to record a pre-tax charge of about $12 million in the third quarter relating to a litigation settlement between American Express Co (AXP.N) and Visa USA Inc.

    The company expects 2007 earnings of about $1.83 a share, not including the expenses associated with the planned spin-off of its majority stake in TSYS (TSS.N). In October, it had forecast earnings of $1.85 a share.

    Analysts on average were expecting $1.83 a share, before items, according to Reuters Estimates. (Reporting by Aniruddha Basu in Bangalore; Editing by Deepak Kannan)
