Aug 4 (Reuters) - Global logistics service provider Expeditors International of Washington Inc (EXPD.O) posted quarterly profit in line with expectations, but its sales disappointed in a weak freight market.
The company reported second-quarter profit of $53.8 million, or 25 cents per share, compared with $71.6 million, or 32 cents a share, in the year-ago quarter.
Revenue fell 38 percent to $895.4 million.
Analysts on average expected the company to earn 25 cents a share, before items, on revenue of $1 billion, according to Reuters Estimates.
Shares of the Washington-based company were down nearly 3 percent at $33.81 in morning trade on Nasdaq. (Reporting by Eric Yep in Bangalore; Editing by Aradhana Aravindan)
