** Britain ordered BSkyB BSY.L to reduce its 17.9 percent stake in broadcaster ITV to below 7.5 percent because the purchase was anti-competitive, potentially costing the company around 250 million pounds.

** Bahrain-based Arcapita Bank said it had bought a Texas power plant for $695 million, its biggest U.S. acquisition to date. [nL29443170]
** China’s CDC Corp CHINA.O said its unit, CDC Software, bought the remaining 49 percent of a subsidiary, Industri-Matematik International Corp from Symphony Technology Group. [nWNAS8174]

** TeliaSonera TLSN.ST said it had bought an extra stake in a company in Georgia while selling part of a wholly owned operation in Uzbekistan.
The firm, the Nordic region’s biggest telecom operator, said in a statement its majority owned Fintur Holdings unit was buying an additional 14.3 percent in Georgian firm Geocell, taking its overall stake in the firm to 97.5 percent. [nSAT004872]
Ailing British shoe retailer Stead and Simpson, and its assets, will be sold to a new company backed by rival Shoe Zone Group for an undisclosed price, said company administrators PricewaterhouseCoopers. [nLA787909]
