Oct 6 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers, acquisitions and disposals involving European, U.S. and Asian companies were reported by 2000 GMT on Monday. (For Reuters columns on deals, click on [DEALTALK\] )

** BNP Paribas (BNPP.PA) agreed to scoop up assets in Belgium and Luxembourg of banking and insurance group Fortis FOR.BR for 14.5 billion euros ($20.1 billion) to become the euro zone’s biggest deposit bank.

** Eli Lilly and Co (LLY.N) agreed to acquire ImClone Systems Inc IMCL.O for $6.5 billion, potentially bringing to a close one of the most colorful corporate sagas in biotech history. [ID:nN06297367]

** Nomura Holdings (8604.T), Japan’s largest broker, said it would buy the Indian back-office units of collapsed U.S investment bank Lehman Brothers LEHMQ.PK for an undisclosed sum. [ID:nBOM31503]

** Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS.TO) said it will buy Sun Life Financial’s (SLF.TO) stake in fund manager CI Financial CIX_u.TO for C$2.3 billion ($2.1 billion), boosting the bank’s wealth management operations and providing Sun Life with cash to go after acquisitions. [ID:nN06280146]

** The Australian unit of H.J. Heinz Co HNZ.N will buy food producer Golden Circle Ltd in a deal valuing the canned fruit and juice producer at about A$288 million ($220 million), the companies said. [ID:nSYD374380]

** RiskMetrics Group Inc RMG.N, which advises companies on how to navigate risk, acquired U.K.-based Applied4 Technology Ltd to expand into the area of performance attribution. [ID:nBNG276434]

** MasTec Inc (MTZ.N) said it agreed to buy Wanzek Construction Inc for $200 million in cash, but its shares fell sharply on concerns about how the telecommunications contractor might fund the deal. [ID:nBNG207490]

** Shares in Gemalto GTO.PA, the world’s largest provider of smart, mobile SIM and bank cards, plummeted on Monday after it launched an unsolicited cash offer for Wavecom WAVC.PA, valuing the wireless tech firm at over 100 million euros ($135.9 million). [ID:nL6255378]

** Semiconductor maker Vishay Intertechnology Inc (VSH.N) said it would be willing to improve its $23-a-share offer for International Rectifier Corp IRF.N, if International Rectifier could justify the increase. [ID:nBNG244826]

** British outsourcing group Xchanging Plc XCH.L and its Mauritius unit have made an open offer to acquire 20 percent of Cambridge Solutions Ltd CAMB.BO at 81.11 rupees a share, according to a notice in a newspaper. [ID:nBOM125718]

** British marketing research group Taylor Nelson Sofres TNS.L admitted defeat in its bid battle with Martin Sorrell’s WPP Group (WPP.L) on Monday, recommending its shareholders accept the deal on offer. [ID:nL6496625]

** Pala Investments Holdings Ltd agreed to acquire an additional 20 percent of Coalcorp Mining Inc’s CCJ.TO stock, for about C$52.9 million, in a move that will raise its total stake in the company to about 44 percent. [ID:nBNG223015]

** Hungary’s MOL MOLB.BU has won 21.7 percent of Croatian oil group INA INA.ZA HINAq.L in a public bid, raising its stake to 46.7 percent, but it may still gain a majority as final results will be known only later this week.
