** Singapore Airlines (SIAL.SI) said that its offer to buy a stake in China Eastern Airlines was still valid, but said it had no plans to revise its existing bid for the mainland carrier.

** South Korea’s Hana Financial Group said it may buy shares in Merrill Lynch MER.N from Singapore fund Temasek, in a move which would raise Hana’s global profile and spread Temasek’s risks from overseas deals. [nSIN18796]
** France’s Dalkia, a unit of Veolia Environment (VIE.PA) and EDF (EDF.PA), said it owned 97.9 percent of Polish energy group Praterm PRAT.WA after making a 142 million euro ($208.5 million) takeover offer. [nL18324592]
** British investment group 3i Infrastructure (3IN.L) said it is behind a takeover approach for UK wind-farm developer Novera NOEN.L. Earlier, Novera had said that it received a takeover approach that may lead to a cash offer at 90 pence a share, or 112 million pounds ($220.1 million). [nL18388680]
** U.S. investment bank Bear Stearns Co Inc BSC.N took its first step in Australia as its private equity arm agreed to buy Macquarie Private Capital Group MPG.AX for A$115.5 million ($105 million) in cash. [nSYD31352]

** Merger talks between United Airlines UAUA.O and Continental Airlines Inc (CAL.N) have picked up pace, but a deal still hinges on the outcome of discussions between Delta Air Lines (DAL.N) and Northwest Airlines Corp NWA.N, people briefed on the situation said. [nN15602689]
** British technology firm ClinPhone Plc CNP1.L said it had received a preliminary takeover approach from U.S. firm Parexel International PRXL.O, but had rejected the offer. [nL18355863]
