Jan 17 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers, acquisitions and disposals involving European, U.S. and Asian companies were reported by 2100 GMT on Wednesday.

** Shares of Asiana Airlines 020560.KQ jumped as much as 10.5 percent as its parent group looked set to be named top bidder for Korea Express (000120.KS), South Korea’s top logistics company.

** Brazilian mining company MMX Mineracao (MMXM3.SA) (XMM.TO), controlled by billionaire Eike Batista, said it is in exclusive talks to sell part of the company to mining group Anglo American (AAL.L) for $5.5 billion. [nN17195830]

** Mining group Anglo American Plc (AAL.L) is in talks to buy control of two Brazilian iron ore projects owned by MMX Mineracao (MMXM3.SA) (XMM.TO) for around $5.5 billion to boost exposure by fivefold to a commodity with buoyant prospects, Anglo said. [nL17808297]

** AMP New Zealand Office Trust Ltd APT.NZ said a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority would take a 19.9 percent stake in the company at a cost of NZ$178.2 million ($137.1 million). [nWLF000702]

** Allegiance Mining Ltd (AGM.AX) has rejected a takeover bid of up to $654 million from fellow Australian miner Zinifex Ltd ZFX.AX, saying the offer was inadequate. [nSYD273641]

** KDDI Corp (9433.T), Japan’s second-biggest phone company, is considering buying Chubu Electric Power’s (9502.T) fibre-optic business for around 40 billion yen ($371.8 million), a company source said. [nT20020]

** Britain’s biggest insurer Aviva (AV.L) has agreed to buy a majority stake in Italian life insurer UBI Vita for 65 million euros ($95.3 million), the latest in a string of small European acquisitions. [nL17832842]
