Feb 1 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers, acquisitions and disposals involving European, U.S. and Asian companies were reported by 2100 GMT on Friday.

** Technology giant Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O) said that it had offered to acquire Internet media company Yahoo Inc YHOO.O for $44.6 billion in cash and stock.

** China’s biggest aluminium producer teamed up with U.S. group Alcoa (AA.N) to buy a 12 percent stake in Rio Tinto (RIO.L) on Friday, threatening miner BHP Billiton’s BLT.L efforts to win Rio.

Aluminum Corp of China’s (Chinalco) $14 billion move comes days before a regulatory deadline next Wednesday for BHP to make a firm offer for Rio or to walk away. [nL01435125]

** Deutsche Bank (DBKGn.DE) acquired California-based hedge fund administrator HedgeWorks LLC with more than $10 billion in assets under administration, the bank said on Friday without disclosing the transaction price. [nL01829314]

** News International Ltd., the UK newspaper arm of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp NWSa.N, has made its first investment in a standalone e-commerce site with the acquisition of a stake in BrandAlley.co.uk, the companies said. [nL31339877]

** UK gas producer BG Group BG.L made its first move into Australian on Friday, paying 299 million pounds ($595 million) for a 10 percent stake in coal seam gas specialist Queensland Gas Co (QGC) and some of its assets. [nL01660400]

** DBS Group (DBSM.SI), Southeast Asia’s largest lender by assets, will takeover the “good assets” of Taiwan’s Bowa Commercial Bank which the government sold through an auction, a spokeswoman for the bank told Reuters. [nSGC001711]

** OMX Nordic Exchange Helsinki OMX.ST OMX.HE said the State of Finland had accepted Borse Dubai’s and BD Stockholm AB’s offer of 265 Swedish crowns ($41.76) fo2 each of its 1.5 million shares in OMX AB. [nL01302468]

** Pioneer Drilling Co PDC.A, which provides drilling services to energy companies, agreed to buy certain businesses of peer Wedge Group Inc for $303 million in cash to extend its customer base. [nWNAS8938]

** Inter-dealer broker GFI Group Inc GFIG.O said it acquired privately held trading software maker Trayport Ltd for about $164 million to improve its electronic trading capabilities in the over-the-counter energy markets. [nBNG85031]

** TransAlta Corp (TA.TO), Canada’s biggest inventor-owned power generator, is exploring the possible sale of its assets in Mexico following a review through the past year, Chief Executive Steve Snyder said. [nN01427414]

** SNI SNI.CS, a holding company controlled by Morocco’s royal family, bought a 32.9 percent stake in Somed, an investment firm with interests in tourism, property, metals and food production, SNI said. [nL01752426]

** Transmeta Corp TMTA.O said it received a letter of interest from key shareholder Riley Investment Management LLC seeking to buy the chip designer for $15.50 a share in cash. [nWNAS8967]

** Struggling Finnish fine paper maker M-real MRLBV.HE said it had agreed to sell its UK New Thames office paper mill to DS Smith (SMDS.L) for 60 million pounds ($119 million). [nWLA3336]
