UPDATE 1-Deals of the day -- mergers and acquisitions

April 9 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers, acquisitions and disposals involving European, U.S. and Asian companies were reported by 0900 GMT on Wednesday.

** Spanish construction company Sacyr Vallehermoso SVO.MC said it arranged to sell its 33.32 percent stake in France’s Eiffage (FOUG.PA) to French institutional investors at 63 euros per share. [nL09452578]

** A United Arab Emirates government-linked firm RAK Minerals and Metals Investments (RMMI) said it is buying an Armenian mining firm for $200 million. [nSIN233881]

** South African fixed-line telecommunications group Telkom (TKGJ.J) said it had received no further approaches after it turned down a takeover offer from Oger Telecoms. [nWEB1119]

** Washington Mutual Inc (WM.N) had received an initial takeover bid of about $7 billion from JPMorgan Chase (JPM.N) while it was working on the TPG [TPG.UL] cash infusion deal, the Wall Street Journal said, citing people familiar with the situation. [nN09424535]

** Changsha Zoomlion Industry Science and Technology Development (000157.SZ) said it has submitted a bid for Italian construction machinery maker Compagnia Italiana Forme Acciaio SpA, or Cifa. [nSHA69374]

** Iomega Corp IOM.N said it had accepted an increased cash takeover offer of $213 million from EMC Corp EMC.N and would drop a plan to buy a unit of China’s Great Wall Technology Co Ltd 0074.HK in a stock swap. [nN08398031]

** Cisco Systems Inc (CSCO.O) said it will buy the remaining stake in its majority-owned unit Nuova Systems, and unveiled new network switches they co-developed for corporate data centers. [nN08393619]

** Japan’s Konica Minolta Holdings Inc (4902.T) said it would buy a U.S. unit of British office imaging equipment supplier Danka Business Systems Plc (DNK.L) for around $240 million. [nT130948]

** Shares of Japan’s Aozora Bank (8304.T) slid more than 8 percent by midday, headed for its biggest one-day fall, after a person familiar with the matter said Tokio Marine Nichido Fire Insurance was looking to sell its stake in the bank.
