MANILA, May 20 (Reuters) - Convergys Corp (CVG.N), which runs customer call centres and handles billing for other businesses, said on Tuesday it would expand its call centre operations in the Philippines by almost 50 percent.
The Cincinnati-based company would add five new contact centres employing 7,000 people, bringing its total number of such centres in the Southeast Asian nation to 14 with total employment of about 20,000, Convergys said in a statement.
Three of the additional call centres would be located in Manila and one each in Laguna province just south of the capital and in the central province of Cebu.
The new facilities would provide general support, advanced technical help desk services, and back office applications to the company’s clients, which include Bank of America (BAC.N), T-Mobile [TMOG.UL] and Telkomsel (TLKM.JK).
Convergys operates 85 customer contact centres and other facilities and employs about 75,000 people in the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. (Reporting by Rosemarie Francisco; Editing by Tomasz Janowski)
