** British waste-collection company Biffa Plc (BIFF.L) agreed to a 1.2 billion pound ($2.34 billion) takeover from a consortium of private equity companies but its shares rose above the offer price on hopes of a counter bid.

** Efes Breweries International EBIDq.L has signed a deal to buy 100 percent of Lomisi Ltd, the leader in the Georgian beer market, its Turkish parent company Anadolu Efes (AEFES.IS) said. [nL0859234]
