UK FINANCIAL INVESTMENTS

The body set up by the government to manage its stakes in banks, on Monday said it had appointed Glen Moreno, chairman of publisher Pearson (PSON.L: Cotización), as a one of four new non-executive directors.

The other appointees are Peter Gibbs, formerly chief investment officer outside the United States for Merrill Lynch Asset Management, Michael Kirkwood, previously Citi's chief country officer for the UK, and Lucinda Riches, ex-head of equity capital markets at UBS.

FORTIS (FOR.BR: Cotización)

The Belgian financial services group proposed two non-executive directors for its board on Monday, competing with candidates put forward by shareholders in what could spark a further dispute between the two sides.

Fortis said it would will propose Ludwig Criel and Guy de Selliers de Moranville, who already serve as directors of leading Belgian companies, as non-executive directors at its February shareholder meetings. [ID:nLC177263]
