SANTIAGO, Sept 11 (Reuters) - Uruguay's Montes del Plata pulp mill project, a joint venture between Stora Enso and Chile's Arauco, a unit of Empresas Copec, confirmed on Wednesday that startup of the plant would be delayed.
"The mill site is 92 percent complete, and the commissioning of certain areas has already begun," the company said in an emailed statement to Reuters.
"However, the main technology contractors have recently informed Montes del Plata that they will not be able to complete their work according to the agreed timetable."
Earlier on Wednesday, a source close to the $2 billion project told Reuters that the project would be delayed due to labor issues. (Reporting by Antonio de la Jara; Editing by Lisa Von Ahn)
