Proteome, Millipore in deal for Alzheimer's study products
* Millipore holds right to sell diagnostic panels
* Proteome retains clinical applications rights
July 6 (Reuters) - British pharmaceuticals and biotechnology company Proteome Sciences Plc (PRM.L: Cotización) and Millipore Corp (MIL.N: Cotización) have signed an exclusive license agreement to develop new products to study Alzheimer's disease, the companies said in a statement.
U.S.-based bioscience research technologies firm Millipore will develop immunoassays using its Luminex system to measure Proteome's proprietary Alzheimer's disease biomarkers.
"The ability to quickly test for these biomarkers will enable researchers to develop new drugs and diagnostics to treat and monitor patients with Alzheimer's," the companies said.
The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the license agreement, but said Millipore would acquire the exclusive right to develop and sell Luminex bead-based panels for Alzheimer's research, while Proteome retains all rights to clinical applications of the biomarkers.
