Oct 23 (Reuters) - QLogic Corp QLGC.O, a supplier of components for data storage networks, reported quarterly profit that beat analysts' expectations as revenue at its biggest segment rose.
The Aliso Viejo, California-based company said net income for the second quarter was $22.6 million, or 16 cents a share, compared with $30.4 million, or 19 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue fell 3.4 percent to $140.3 million.
Excluding special items, the company earned 22 cents a share for the quarter.
For the quarter, analysts on average expected the company to earn 15 cents a share, excluding items, on revenue of $139.4 million, according to Reuters Estimates. (Reporting by Saumyadeb Chakrabarty in Bangalore)
