Nov 5 (Reuters) - Food distributor Sysco Corp (SYY.N) reported a 16 percent rise in quarterly earnings helped by higher sales even as it faced food cost inflation. The company, which supplies food and other products to restaurants, cafeterias and other food sellers, reported first quarter net earnings of $267.0 million, or 43 cents a share, up from $230.1 million, or 37 cents a share a year earlier.
Sales rose 8.5 percent to $9.41 billion, the company said in a statement. (Reporting by Anant Vijay Kala in Bangalore)
