Aug 4 (Reuters) - Electronic connector maker Molex Inc MOLX.O posted a fourth-quarter loss, hurt by goodwill and restructuring charges, but said it may post a profit in the first quarter.
For the first quarter, Molex forecast a range of breakeven to a profit of 6 cents a share, on revenue of $590 million to $630 million.
The company said it would not give outlook for the full year due to limited visibility in the economy.
The company posted a fourth-quarter net loss of $219.7 million, or $1.27 a share, compared with earnings of $52.6 million, or 29 cents a share, a year earlier.
Molex, which said it reduced its total headcount by 24 percent in the last three quarters, said it incurred a restructuring charge of $45.6 million and a goodwill impairment charge of $171.0 million.
Revenue fell 35 percent to $570.6 million.
Analysts on average were expecting a loss of 7 cents a share, excluding items, on revenue of $555.3 million, according to Reuters Estimates.
