Jan 11 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers, acquisitions and disposals involving European, U.S. and Asian companies were reported by 2100 GMT on Friday.

** Bank of America Corp (BAC.N: Cotización) said it agreed to acquire battered Countrywide Financial Corp CFC.N in a $4 billion transaction that could help avert one of the biggest collapses from the U.S. housing crisis.

** Rock-Tenn Co RKT.N said it agreed to buy privately held containerboard and corrugated packaging company Southern Container Corp for $851 million in cash. [nWEN3341]

** Polish oil firm Petrolinvest PROL.WA signed preliminary deals worth $512 million to expand its presence in the potentially lucrative Kazakhstan oil industry, it said. [nL11785594]
