Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc said on Thursday it demoted its chief financial officer, Erin Callan, and that it had named a new chief operating officer, days after the investment bank said it expects to post a $2.8 billion quarterly loss. [nN12332089]
Mutual fund manager Putnam Investments, which has been losing assets for years, hired Robert Reynolds, a former key executive at rival Fidelity Investments, as its chief executive officer, the company's parent said on Thursday. [nN12330891]
BANK OF NEW YORK MELLON CORP (BK.N)
The Bank of New York Mellon executive chairman Thomas Renyi announced his retirement effective July 31, 2008. He will be replaced by Robert Kelly.
AMERICAN MORTGAGE ACCEPTANCE CO (AMC.A) The American Mortgage Acceptance company named Donald Meyer chief executive officer, replacing Larry Duggins, who retired.
BARCLAYS PLC (BARC.L)
Barclays Plc unit Barclays Capital said on Thursday it has hired a team of health care investment bankers from Bear Stearns, which was recently bought by JPMorgan Chase & Co (JPM.N). [ID:nWEN6216]
The unit of HSBC Holdings plc named Steve Snizek European head of loan sales and trading. Snizek joins from Deutsche Bank in London. He starts in September 2008 and will be based in London.
BNP PARIBAS (BNPP.PA)
The bank appointed Benjamin Jacquard as global head of structured credit and arbitrage trading. Benjamin is based in London and joins from Calyon, where he was in charge of the structured credit business.
The unit of Deloitte LLP named Jeffrey Seymour a principal and the leader of its northeast legal business consulting group. Seymour will be based in New York.
The brokerage named Bernard Dan chief operating officer of the company's collective North American businesses effective immediately. Dan was formerly the president and CEO of Chicago Board of Trade.
The underwriter appointed Travis MacMillian as president and chief operating officer. MacMillian joins from OneBeacon Insurance Group.
The insurance brokerage firm said Melissa Sowa joined its ProQuest law firm specialty practice as vice president. Prior to joining ProQuest she served at Marsh USA Inc.
The venture capital firm announced that David King joined the firm as a venture partner. King was a founder of BioRexis Pharmaceutical Corporation, and as CEO led the company to an acquisition by Pfizer, Inc. in 2007.
